For the stories no one ever wrote down

Leave them your stories. In your own voice.

Waterfall asks the questions that bring out the stories and the judgment of a lifetime, keeps every word in your voice, and lets your family ask you about them for years to come.

Free to tell and keep your own stories, forever. Nothing is ever deleted unless you ask.

A grandfather telling a story to his grandson at the kitchen table

Glace Bay, 1958

My father's kettle

"Every morning my father would put the kettle on before he said a word to anyone..."

In Walter's voice · 3:24

The stories that matter most are the ones nobody writes down. How he met her. Why he left. What he'd do differently. Then one day, nobody can ask.

Our secret is the questions

Ask the right question and you get the story, not a summary.

Every question is built from memory and behavioural research to reach past "it was fine" into what actually happened, why it mattered, and what it taught. Then Waterfall asks the gentle follow-up: why?

Moral reasoning

What is the most important thing you have learned about forgiveness? Not the easy kind.

Draws out: the hardest person they forgave, and the rule they live by now.

Life navigation

Was there a moment you realised you were on the wrong path? What did you do about it?

Draws out: the turning point, and the courage it took.

Cultural wisdom

What small daily ritual from your life do you hope someone inherits?

Draws out: the ordinary things that turn out to be a family's identity.

Easier than a diary. Made for one thing.

1

Tell it any way

Speak it, type it, or photograph a letter or a recipe card. One big button. No mistakes are permanent.

2

Shape it and keep it

Title it and add the year, the place, the people. It becomes a page in your book, in your voice.

3

Ask it anything, later

Every story stays in context, so you and your family can search it in plain words and find the answer in your own words.

The gift that keeps giving

Give Dad a year. Get his stories for a lifetime.

Give Waterfall to a parent or grandparent. They get something meaningful to do. Then they invite the grandchildren, who can ask from the first day, "What would Granddad say?" and hear it in his words.

I got offered a job far from home. What would Granddad say?
In his words, from his stories

"Home isn't the place. It's the people who'll pick up when you call."

From "Leaving Glace Bay," 1966

Good for the storyteller, too

Telling your life story is good for you.

Reminiscence, remembering and sharing past experiences out loud, is one of the most studied activities in later-life care. Waterfall gives it a daily reason, a listener, and a place to keep it.

A Cochrane review of reminiscence therapy found benefits for communication, quality of life and mood for some people living with dementia, though the effects were often small and varied between settings.
Woods B et al., Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2018
A meta-analysis of 128 controlled studies found reminiscence and life review were followed by moderate improvements in depressive symptoms in older adults.
Pinquart M & Forstmeier S, Aging & Mental Health, 2012

Waterfall is not a medical device and does not prevent or treat dementia or memory loss.

Three promises we built the product around

Never deleted for money

If a plan stops, your stories stay and you can keep telling new ones. Only you, or the heir you name, can delete them.

You choose who inherits

Name who keeps your book. If you name no one, it goes to your next of kin or legal representative.

Private until you share

Every story starts private. You decide, story by story, who can hear it.

Optional, and only if you say yes

Help teach AI some judgment.

Today's AI can reason, but it was never taught the kind of judgment you learn by living: when to forgive, when to walk away, what really matters. If you choose, your stories can help train a model for moral reasoning, with names and details removed. It's off by default, and you can turn it off at any time.
